Teulu'r Felin
Above - Edward Jones, the miller, 1835-1904 and his wife Margaret Williams1849-1929. They married in 1872 and lived in Fron, Llanengan - also known as Felin. They had six children:
Jane - married R.O. Hughes the headmaster of Sarn Bach School. Daughter Rene.
Salmon - he was apparently rather wild and worked in the mill. He married Martha Freeman Parry and they kept a shop and post office in Llanengan.
Griffith - a bachelor, he was a builder in Liverpool for many years before retiring to Felin.
Benjamin emigrated to America with brother John. Married Rose Schoffen and lived in Wichita, Kansas.
John - emigrated to America, married Jennie Jones of Brynhyfryd, Pentreucha. Margaret corresponded regularly with her two sons and two of her letters survive.
Mary Ann - married John Thomas and lived in Brynteg.
The photo of Felin below was taken by Ben or John before leaving for America in 1909 on the ship Caronia. Margaret stands outside, on the right there is a bucket to draw water from the well and at the far end the lloft stabal.
Taken in 1877 was the photograph above left of the mill from the Deucoch Road.
Above is the mill in recent times and left as it was when it was working, with Salmon standing next to it..
Below is a sample of Edward Jones's handwriting - part of a poem written when the lead works opened in Llanengan.
